This steel sculpture by Isamu Noguchi marks the axis of Independence Mall and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Depicting a kite, bolt of lightning and a key, the massive piece is a tribute to Ben himself. I desperately wanted to stand beneath it and get a closer perspective, but my Mom said no. That’s right, I wasn’t allowed to cross the street today. Standing in Franklin Square Park, it is necessary to cross four lanes of splitting traffic on 6th Street to get to the base of the sculpture. And since my daughter was with us, I did not want to arm her with such ammunition as, “But you didn’t listen to your Mommy”. So, I stayed put in the park. Maybe next time…
Enjoy your weekend!
