After I returned home from work today, the natives were restless and wanted to enjoy some of this early Spring weather. I would have preferred to take a nap, but who am I to restrict my child’s fresh air intake? We did actually have a mission to accomplish relating to an upcoming party we are hosting, so I thought we could make a combo trip to a nearby nursery.
Off we went to Ott’s Exotic Plants, a fantastic nursery and greenhouse in Schwenksville, PA. They have a virtual jungle of greenery within their glass walls, including a small “mountain” and waterfall. Unfortunately, the waterfall area was closed today, kick starting Tiny Assistant’s afternoon pout. We were also disappointed to learn we could not get the items we were searching for… double mission failure.
Despite these minor setbacks, we did browse through the massive greenhouse and got a small taste of the colors and blooms of the season just ahead of us. We churned up some excitement for garden planning and even purchased a few seed packs to get us started…the pout was successfully reversed. Also, she found the giant lemon tree. And I mean giant lemons – just about the size of a grapefruit.
Take a look at some of our favorite offerings from Ott’s:
